Michelle has been asking for a perfect October weekend in Virginia doing all the things SHE wants to do for about (how long have we been married?) 27 years now. This weekend we finally pulled it off!
We are writing and taking pictures as we sit here at the final event of Michelle’s personal vision of Octoberfest: a classic Halloween movie marathon at a DRIVE IN theater in Goochland County. The movie marathon started with an episode from Bewitched and Michael Jackson’s Thriller on the big screen as a warm up!
MJ’s masterpiece is followed by House of Wax with Vincent Price from 1953. Classic horror movies will continue throughout the night with The Curse of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, The Mummy, and others until the sun comes up! I’m not sure how long we will make it but we hope you enjoy Michelle’s thoughts and our photo essay to inspire a future Octoberfest for you! Happy Halloween!
The weekend started with an early dinner at ZZQ in Richmond followed by our first time going to HAUNT at Kings Dominion.
Kings Dominion has 6 haunted houses and several scare zones.
The trees
Are burning with autumn fire
I’m trying to hear the Moses message
The October light
At once haunting and sublime
Night thrills and morning spice
Cemetery scenes and mountain overlooks
Throwing my arms around pumpkins and screaming at ghouls and ghosts
Virginia’s bounty
The season sings and howls from Ashland to Shenandoah
The late afternoon at Raven’s Roost, the Devil’s Backbone, Sherando Lake, Mudhouse Coffee, Chile’s Peach Orchard, and TJ Maxx.
