Good evening from London! The Jacobs family is taking our Travels Across America Substack Across the Pond for the next three weeks! We are on a soccer and literature pilgrimage and can’t wait to share our experiences with you!
We will be spending a week in London then our youngest son Henry will participate in a soccer tournament near Birmingham. We look forward to sharing with you all the wonderful sights, scenes, sounds, and experiences we have been planning for over the past few months.
Here are a few pictures from our first 12 hours in the city! We managed to navigate from Heathrow Airport to the London Stadium to catch West Ham United’s Premier League opener versus Manchester City. City’s new striker Erling Haaland scored two goals much to the disappoint of the Hammers faithful followers. The atmosphere before the game and during was super cool.
We had the obligatory fish and chips at the Wicked Fish for lunch and finished the day with classic Sunday Roast at a restaurant that opened in the year of our Lord, 1634! Good times!
See you all here next Sunday with our first major essay. Cheers!
Oh how I envy you the game and the adventures for Henry. Be safe, my friends!
